M2 pcie adapter or SSD-sata for a P8Z77-V PRO

Hello Guys

I have been reading around the forum to find out what to do:

I am now sadly more confused.

I want a 500 GB SSD for gaming, my budget is around $ 160-320.

Should i pick a Sata-SSD or get a M2 with adaptor,

I read that my gpu buss might be lowered and so on or be bottleneck

P8Z77-V PRO
980ti
16 gb ddr3
1 x 128 Samsung evo ssd
1x 1 tb WD 1
1x 2 tb WD.

A regular 2.5" SATA drive will be what you need.

thank you for your answer.

could you go in more detail why you would pick a 2.5" sata-ssd drive over a M2 pcie adapter
I am guessing it's due to my MB is old and does not support adapter properly.

Exactly.
1. It probably can't boot from a drive in there.
2. For a secondary drive, an NVMe/PCIe drive is not necessary at all.
3. So if you're looking at a SATA m.2 drive, it is no faster than a 2.5" SATA drive, just a different mount.
