I just upgraded my internet with Charter Spectrum to 200 down and 10 up but I'm getting ~97 down and ~11 up according to speedtest.net. I bought a new modem and router specially for this upgrade.

Router:
Asus AC1200
https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Wireless-AC1200-Dual-Band-Router/dp/B01ATNHG36/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1525719871&sr=8-2&keywords=asus+ac1200&dpID=41DEbj41XoL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Modem:
NETGEAR CM700
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07976SNVB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

All settings are on default except for the DNS server on my router is set to 1.1.1.1 and my router's firmware was updated to 3.0.0.4.380_10446

Is there a way I can change the settings to get the full 200 download speed or do I need better hardware? My network setup is modem>6' cat6 cable>router>50' cat6 cable>computer and i'm using cat6 cabling for everything.

Solution
Is anything on your ethernet path linking at only 100Mbit?

Edit your ethernet ports on your Asus AC1200 are only 10/100, not gigabit capable, you need a better router.

The MB supports gigabit; it has an Intel I219V NIC.

Check the "Speed & Duplex" settings and validate it's set to Auto Negotiation and not 100mbps.

Device Manager --> Intel Ethernet * --> Advanced (tab) --> Speed & Duplex (property area).

Nope: Snipergod87 provided the correct link. From it "RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for LAN x 4"

Depending on where and when you bought it, you might be able to return the unit for a refund. Talk with the merchant for options.
