The F2 chassis is really meant for MB with only 2 DIMM slots. put a 4-DIMM-slots-wide MB into it and you'll effectively have to route the cables through where you would mount the SSD.

Since the price of the GQ has apparently gone up since you've posted, I've changed the PSU to the Seasonic model that is having a $15 rebate on Newegg CA, not shown in the PCPP list.

And since I've changed the case, I've switched to the ATX version of the Pro4 which is currently cheaper ($150-40rebate vs $175-40rebate @ Newegg CA; neither are showing in PCPP).

Changed to a cheaper cooler (or you can omit it entirely for now) since an OCed 8700k is going to be way too much for the 212 Evo to handle.

Changed CPU to the 8400, since if you do have an aftermarket cooler, both would CPUs run at their Turboboost specs instead of the base clock, i.e. 4Ghz vs 4.1Ghz for single core and ~3.8Ghz vs 3.9Ghz all cores; which is not worth the extra cost.

getting a 8700k with a 1060 is utterly wasteful

for the money this is much better

now the question is, do you plan to get a stronger gpu?
if no, go with my build

if yes, then dont waste money on the 1060
get your build, but with a i7 8700k and a 550w seasonic focus gold

use the built-in until the next gen is released THEN buy a gpu

Yeah I realized that the 212 isn't that good but from my usage with the Intel Stock Coolers are loud. But I will see if he can add anymore money to the budget. He isn't really in any hurry so I will show him what I got

He could buy a CPU cooler and 8700K later

Forget overclocking on such a low end Z370 board, with regards to an 8700k. Not enough voltage regulation for that power hungry chip. If this system is built with such future intentions, you are going to have to cut back somewhere to be ready for it. Not the greatest, but this board would be far better suited.

There was a guy who spent thousands of euros on an X299 build with a GTX1080Ti and then put those in an oven of a case and watch his GPU reaching 90 degrees Celsius. Don't make the same mistake.

Alright final build taking everything into account. He could buy a better GPU and CPU+Cooler later when he saves up money.
