8GB DDR3-1600 or 12GB DDR3-1066?

I have mixed the ram sticks and they work together on my PC, with the other 1600 MHz ram sticks clocked down to 1066 MHz. My question is simply which would be better for just gaming/occasional video editing on Sony Vegas?

MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
OEM HP motherboard (was an office PC, upgraded it as a budget gaming PC)
Windows 10 64 bit.
I don't think the other stuff matters like HDD and all

8GB - 1600 then if you ask me.

I'd rather take the lesser amount of faster RAM than to have more with the faster set clocked lower than it should be. Mixing RAM isn't always a win or even advisable.
