Which Ryzen is best for me?

I'm definitely upgrading to a Ryzen 5. I want something with a similar core clock and count to my current AMD FX-4350(4 cores 4.2 GHz baseclock). I'm torn between the Ryzen 5 2400G and the Ryzen 5 1500x. They are both around 160$; the only difference is the 2400G has a higher core-clock and of course built in graphics. Should I get the built in graphics even if I don't plan on using them? Would the 2400G run hotter than the 1500x?

I'd say go with the 2400G. The higher core clock certainly helps, and the built-in graphics can help in troubleshooting, should something go wrong with your discrete GPU.

As for running hotter, all Ryzen chips so far have been pretty good in that regard, even on stock coolers. I don't think it'll be an issue with either chip.

Personally dont think,the 2400g is as good as the 1500x on,price/performance.

The 1500x 'should' be cheaper
It can be run on any board without the worry of bios compatibility.
It does run cooler (soldered tim) & comes with a better cooler.
Has more l3 cache so is not quite as reliant on fast memory.

Don't get me wrong,the 2400g is a great apu.
If you dont need the integrated graphics though & the 1500x is cheaper it's a easier option.

I actually did some further digging, the 2400G when not using the integrated graphics shows a slightly better gaming performance in most games than the 1500x. The 1500x shows better performance in more office oriented work-loads. Combined with the fact that the 2400G is also newer, I think I'll get the 2400G.
