Can I mount a fan onto a GPU that came without a fan?

Hi. I built my first pc about a couple of months ago, and today I realized how little I know about pc's. I bought the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hydro Copper for my graphics card, but I've been having issues with micro stutters. I realized that it may have been because of my GPU throttling, but I didn't know why my GPU would throttle. And then I found out high temps are factors that throttle my GPU. This made me realize that this GPU has no fan and I have no water cooling system. Luckily nothing exploded or anything, yet, but this is making me concerned with the idea that I need to purchase a new graphics card, which is super expensive. So, I was wondering, if I were to buy the parts, like a heatsink, bracket, fans, etc., would I be able to install that onto my GPU that, from my lack of knowledge, may not have been built to support such components? I figured buying these parts would be a lot cheaper than making a water cooler.

And if I am able to install my own equipment, can someone help me figure out the pieces I would need? I'm an amateur.

Originally I wanted to, but my friend said that he would be able to sell me his for cheap. He used it for like a year, but upgraded to full water cooling. Would it not work?

So, I cannot return it, unfortunately. Makes sense though. I think I was just so excited to get my GPU, cause it was the last piece I needed to build the pc, that I wasn't even thinking about how it was going to get cooled. Haha...

Ok well theres a couple options for it:

Air cooling:
https://www.arctic.ac/uk_en/accelero-xtreme-iv.html

I would probably just go for this and sell the waterblock..

Liquid cooling:

With the Ek Predator you would just need to connect it to your graphics cards water block instead of the included cpu water block.
