Can I upgrade my current pc (with 4 gb of ram and a geforce 730) to 64 bits? If so, will it slow down my computer? Thanks (no I'm not buying a new pc, maybe change the cpu or motherboard if needed).
Edit: windows 7

The primary point of 64 bit OS is it allows you to use more than 4GB of memory. So upgrading to 64 bit but sticking with just 4 GB of RAM will not result in performance change.

I run lots of desktops with 64 bit OS and just 4GB of RAM at work. It is not a performance problem for the OS. The problem is users simply opening to many chrome tabs and maxing out their RAM. I install more RAM if and when I think it will help the user.

What do you mean? I've seen 64 bit computers that run only 4 gbs of ram

Just because they can doesn't mean that they run well. MS specifies that the bare minimum for W10 is 2GB RAM, but the current standard for 64-bit systems is pretty much 8GB RAM. Anything less than that and you're going to potentially have a less than stellar experience with performance issues.
