So i overclocked my cpu today i didnt go too high since i didnt wanna mess anything up but im not sure if i did it right. i got a i7-4820k 3.7 base(now its 4.0) and for the mother board its p9x79 so i overclocked it to 4 but it felt like it was way too simple to do... In the bios i went to advanced configuration and then to ui tweaker i didnt change it to xmp,manual, but left it on auto all i changed was the core max clock thingy to 40 and then i did sync all core's then i restarted my pc and thats it? isnt that way too simple so i checked if it was overclocked and saw that its base when im doing nothing is 3.7mhz but when i stress test my gpu/cpu it goes to 4.0mhz so does that mean i did it right? the temperature's are in the 50's when i stress it so i that should be fine i guess. but it all feels way to easy. so im wondering if i can turn it up a little bit more since the temps are fine i was thinking about 4.2 ish
I dont know alot about overclocking can someone tell me if i did it right?

Your next step after doing any kind of overlclock is to run a bench mark test for an hour or two to see if it's stable. Prime95 is one product but you can google that and find out. I found this overclocking guide to be pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoUtA7DKXhU&feature=youtu.be
