Trying to understand speedtest results vs download speed

SO, my speedtest result is 62Mbps, but when I try to download a [video] file the download speed runs anywhere from 100-500 KB/sec. Is this normal? If not, are there ways to increase the download speed?

I've read a bunch of other discussions of this topic and it seems like many people describe their download speed in Mb not Kb, so I'm thinking mine is super slow. Frequently the issue is resolved by explaining the difference between bits and bytes - is there something I am not understanding as well?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

A speed test only verifies what your maximum connection speeds are to a specific server. When you download anything from another server a number of external factors can limit your download speed.

Do you know someone with similar ISP provided speeds that could try downloading to compare your results to?

The website is called suprafiles. Although it's the same no matter what the website is. Does 500 KB/sec sound average or fast or slow, given the max speed of 62Mbps?

to t53186: I don't actually know anyone else with similar speeds. But if the download speed in KB/sec has nothing to do with my computer/wireless settings, then I guess there isn't anything I can do to speed it up?
