Hello,

I just put together a machine and am trying to get the ram running at a higher speed. The ram is rated at 3200, and listed on the MB QVL as running at 2933; however, with the XMP profile loaded (3200), it seems to be stuck at 2133. There is only one XMP profile on the board, and it does have the 3200 option selected, but shows even in BIOS that it is only running at 2133. Ram sticks are in the A2 and B2 positions, which are the preferred ones according to the MB manual.

Is the only way around this a manual overclock? Should I expect the MB manufacturer to have increased support in the future?

Will manually overclocking the ram void any warranties?

AsRock x470 Taichi
Ryzen 2700x
F4-3200C14D-32GTZR

Any tips would be appreciated.

Solution
Umm...
1) Yes, they should add support in the future for more RAM XMP speeds.
2) Yes, manually setting the RAM is necessary to run it at higher than initial boot speeds.
3) Not sure about the overclocking, I know I've overclocked the heck out of my RAM, had it fail, told G.Skill what I did, they said send it in, I sent it in, they sent me shiny new ones. I DO NOT recommend this, only that it has happened, also, this doesn't mean they'll tell you to send it in that it's all right, I coulda just had hit a guy with a bad day and he enjoyed my humor.
I'm not familiar with the Asrock boards, but they're pretty well known for good overclocking RAM on the Taichi. You should be able to get 3200 on it with some tweaking I would...

Specially on the X470. I have nearly the same kit (different heat spreader, but same timings, same G.Skillz) and mine runs @ 3066 on an older X370 board. There are plenty of tutorials out there about RAM overclocking on the X370s, check that out for good advice on the X470s.
