I am using a MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-V2 router (I must use because I have a hotspot connected to it). I have 3 Ethernet cables running from it to two computers and one AP for any wireless devices to connect to. Anytime someone uses the internet while another person is gaming the ping spikes 300-600. It is constant spike anytime someone is watching videos. What I want to do is divide the bandwidth evenly as others start using devices or computers. So say one person is on the computer using 10mb/s and someone else starts using the other computer it will then split the bandwidth and so on. I looked at MikroTik routers but not sure how I would connect it to the MOFI to be used by everyone as the main router. Sorry if this is complicated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. By the way MOFI does have QOS, but I am unsure how to use it.

edgerouter X is $50 and has fq_codel (SQM). It only works up to about 90Mbs. If you need more you need an x86 router like ipfire, which also has an easy to setup fq_codel. it's easy to re-purpose an old pc. It does need two NICs.

I don't believe MikroTik has fq_codel yet. Very few have gotten it even though it's been around for years. Linux based routers are more likely to have it. DD-WRT does. pfsense (freebsd) just got it, but it's not availble in the gui.
When you're stuck with a terrible router provided by the ISP, I've found that it's often easier just to buy your own router, plug its WAN port into the ISP router's LAN port, give your router's WAN port a static IP address in the ISP router's LAN IP range, the set your router's WAN IP address as DMZ on the ISP router. Then you can just ignore the ISP router and use your own router as if it were connected directly to the modem.

That said, what's your Internet speed (up and down)? Ping spikes during heavy use may not necessarily be caused by the router. They can also be caused by saturating your download OR your upload bandwidth.

Speed is 10-15 down and 3-7 up based off of several days of testing. It is 4G LTE internet so it fluctuates quite often.

Edit: I would not consider one person online gaming and another opening a browser :) heavy use.

I am using USB tethering from hotspot so I have to use version 1.9.8.9 firmware:

From documentation in hyperlink

"If you have the basic MOFI4500-4GXeLTE V2 and use a USB modem/hotspot, you should use firmware 1.9.8.9"
