Hey all, I've read some similar threads and I still have no clue what's better! It's honestly just confusing at this point, apparently CL14 is better than CL16 for example, but higher MHz is better than lower MHz and these silly RAM prices are not helpful either!

To make this super easy, I'll list a few RAM kits I can get for a similar price (from the most expensive to cheapest, more or less) and at this point I'm interested in the best quality / speed out of the box since I'm not familiar with RAM overclocking. Any help is very much appreciated!

  • G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000U 3000MHz CL14 Trident Z, F4-3000C14D-16GTZR
    G.Skill (2X8GB) DDR4 3200, CL14, DIMM 288-PIN, RIPJAWSV F4-3200C14D-16GVR
    G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz Trident Z, F4-3600C17D-16GTZSW
    G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600U 3200MHz CL16 Trident Z silver/red, F4-3200C16D-16GTZB
    G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000U 3000MHz CL16 Trident Z RGB, F4-3000C16D-16GTZR
    Corsair DOMINATOR® Platinum (2x8GB) DDR4, 3000MHz CL15, CMD16GX4M2B3000C15
    G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000U 3000MHz CL15 Trident Z RGB, F4-3000C15D-16GTZR
    G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000U 3000MHz CL15 RipJaws, F4-3000C15D-16GVGB
    G.Skill (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000U 3000MHz CL16 Aegis, F4-3000C16D-16GISB
I'm honestly tempted to just roll with whatever cheaper 3000-3200MHz kit I can find because the ones with Samsung B-die are quite expensive (more than $100 difference). Is there really going to be a huge difference between cheaper 3000MHz CL16 RAM and expensive 3000MHz CL14 one? I'm not going to change these components for a few years (at least two) and I'm not much of a gamer (1080p resolution is what I am doing right now with a possibility of 1440p 144Hz in a year or two) in case that matters too.

Thank you!

Hey there darkbreeze,
I'm planning this MoBo - Asus PRIME X470 PRO
But I can't find any of the RAMs (@3200MHz) from the "official supported list" in my area.

I was considering to buy one of these, could you let me know if I'll be fine with one of them:

This one is on the list but it's 3000MHz, I'm guessing I won't notice the 200 difference, should I go for that one:
Thank your taking the time, I really don't want to end up with useless $200+ RAM
