Recently switched to 5ghz wifi, super fast for a while then speed suddenly decreased

So a few weeks ago I had switched to 5ghz due to the 2.4ghz being very slow. For a while the wifi was super fast (I used speedtest.net) achieved around 75 mbps to 100 mbps for download speeds and 10mbps of upload speeds. However, after a while I noticed that downloads were super slow, and checked to see that I only had 3 mbps of download and still 5 mbps of upload. I have an old motorola router, idk what could be the problem as I have changed channels and seen no results in performance. Suggestions on what the problem might be?

UPDATE: Problem still persists again after temporary fix

Solution
Re-adjusting my coax cable has solved the problem for a little while, it still decreases. I dont even know why or how this works it but I unplugged the coax cable, straightened it and tightened it on to my router and it seems to be working now. Not quite the speeds I was getting before, but very close.

Yes I have done that, one interesting thing I noticed was that the reset often makes the initial five minutes super fast, but after a while the speeds decrease.

I would do the same test on a wired connection. It might be a issue with the internet connection. WiFi speed will jump around but it in general does not start fast and then run slow it will slow down and then speed back up since wifi issues are mostly due to interference.

Could this be an ISP issue or a router issue? I can't check ethernet on a computer but would a ps4 work?

The speedtest on a ps4 should work the same. The problem is going to be if the ps4 show no issues then you are still don't know for sure if it is some issue with the wireless in the PC or if it is some other more generic issue with the pc. All you would know is that the internet connection is not likely the problem. If the PS4 show the problem then you start suspecting router firmware or the ISP.

Alright I tested it on my ps4 through ethernet, results 100 mbps down and 10 mbps up. The same thing isn't happening on my ethernet as both my apple tv and ps4 run perfectly fine internet wise. I have no idea what is happening. I also tested on other wireless devices through wifi (not ethernet) and results were similar to my pc, internet slow and sluggish.

If it happens on multiple devices then you have to suspect the router. You can try a firmware upgrade if it exists maybe you get lucky.

It also could just be you live in a area with lots of other people using wifi. Everyone stomps on each other signals and everyone runs slow...no way to fix that. Used to be you could change channels but now days the new tri-band routers use them all for just 1 router.

Could be that I live in an apartment complex but a few days ago it worked perfectly fine. My router has the latest firmware update too. Hmm, should I try factory resetting the router and see if that clears up anything cache data, logs, etc maybe.
