Power Strip Issues

While watching a movie, I was fiddling around with random things and decided to do so with my power strip, and I did so by pressing down on the button (the bit of the button that has gone down, powering it on. I was not pressing down to turn off the power strip.) which made my tablet's screen flicker. After a couple of seconds of flickering, it turned off, which was strange since I still had 10% battery left. The only things that were connected to the strip was my phone charger (not plugged into the phone) and my lamp. I plug them both out, and turn off the strip, and turn it back on. The light on the bar shines a very faint light while flickering. I turn it off about 3-4 times and then it shines normally. The plug was not loose in the wall socket. I plug it out of the wall and back into the socket and plug in my tablet charger and connect my tablet to the charger and it starts charging.

My best guess would be that my tablet battery is dying, but I find it very odd that my screen starts flickering only when I hold the strip button down (I let go for maybe half a second). Maybe my house is haunted by a very spooky ghost that doesn't want me to watch movies. If any of you have a clue as to what happened, please do tell me.

Edit: My tablet had also rebooted right after it turned off, screen still floclering, and then turned itself off again after no more than 10 seconds.

Solution
Some switches will arc or short out internally if put in a specific position; even if momentarily.

As for the flickering, I'm guessing EM interferance from lack of noise suppression.
