Router that updates configuration changes quickly

Searching for home use WIFI Router that can update the config quickly. All my Google searches for fast config point to tweaking for faster data.
I play and tweak for fun and learning and my Nighthawk R7000 seems to take a long time ( 2 -3 minutes) when I make changes. Just wondering if anyone is aware of something that is quick.

Typically after a config change is made the router must reboot, which always takes time.

That depends what settings you change if its major change that requires restarting then I don't think it will be much faster.
Probably best for you would be to get separate Router and Wifi-AP if you like tweaking, something like:
Router: https://www.ubnt.com/edgemax/edgerouter-lite/
Wifi AP: https://www.ubnt.com/products/#unifi

It cost a bit more than all in wifi router, but the difference in quality, stability, and performance is on a totally different level.
Plus that Edge router os is based on Ubuntu and allows a lot more tweakings.

There's lots of options for x86 hardware.

With pfsense you can make many changes then push them at once.
Everything is very fast, because it's super over specced.
If you want to run QoS on > 100Mbs connection x86 is pretty much required.

Plus you can try different routers when you feel like it.
If you run them in a virtual environment you can snapshot the image make a bunch of changes and revert back if things get worse.
