i am looking to build another pc that uses windows xp as kind of a throw back system as i remember using it when i was a little kid however i am aware that time has moved on since then and drivers and hardware etc may not still support this dated operating system can anyone tell me what components are compatible with it i was considering buying an intel E5450 cpu i have no idea about a gpu quite frankly what do you think of this would it work are there better ideas for a cpu any guidance would be greatly appreciated

That seems like a good choice for the CPU. Came out just before Vista dropped. On the GPU side the Nvidia 8000 series and Radeon HD 2000 series are also similarly from 2007 (the year Vista came out). So they kind of represent to pinnacle of XP, though obviously driver support extended for years later than that.

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure Nvidia dropped driver support for XP by the time they got to the 900 series cards. Not sure about AMD.
