PC vs PC - OMEN

Hey guys,

I've just recently converted back to PC user, from Mac (10 years). I'm a filmmaker so I edit video, generally at 5K.

Can you advise on which of these specs would be best for this? I purchased the 2999.99$ machine a few days ago, and now this other one with better Processor, and Graphics card went on sale for 2599.99$. The PC person at BestBuy and GeekSquad, advised that the one I have regardless of the difference is a better machine.

Should I exchange it, and why?

Solution
1. "The PC person at BestBuy and GeekSquad, advised..."
Bad idea to listen to them. They are absolutely wrong here.

2. The only thing the $2,999 one wins at is the 32GB RAM vs 16GB.
The $2,599 system is actually better. Just have them add another 16GB RAM.

Better CPU, much better GPU.

However...serious issues with both of them.
- Unknown small PSU for that price.
- Unknown 512GB SSD. Is it SATA or NVMe?
- I'm sure I could find other issues.

Thank you for the responses! After speaking to them again they continue to insist the Processor Speed of my machine is overall better than the one I am attempting to exchange for.
4.2 GHz (my pc) vs 3.70 GHz (the other pc) - is this false? Or is there a reason for this given the 2599.99$ machine has a better CPU?

The GHz is but one part of the CPU performance. I can find a 15 year old CPU with a similar GHz "speed".
The i7-8700k is simply a stronger (next generation up) CPU than the i7-7700k. The GHz number is a secondary consideration.

Plus, the 1080 ti, is quite a bit stronger GPU than the regular 1080. Probably 30%.

Plus, the system is $400 cheaper.

That makes a lot of sense. I'm taking it back tomorrow. I basically pay a membership with the GeekSquad to be misinformed.
-_-

I called them and complained, they're going to give me the 2599.99$ machine for 2299.99$.

Thank you so much for the information.

Excellent.
Much better machine for $700 less.

Now, take a couple hundred of that savings, and institute a good backup plan.
