Family uses most of the WiFi bandwidth, any solutions?

My WiFi is decent where i am but my family uses most of the bandwidth, i have issues like lag during games, slow downloads, i even had like 2 Kilobit per second (yes i checked it) it took me an hour to download a 16 MB file. Any solutions? I can buy an AP but,i only have a Ethernet cable which is a meter long and i am like 20-30 meters away from my router, so will a AP,switch or repeater help? ( I have about 2 MB at best)

I live in Belgium, i use Scarlet and it's a black box-like looking with no antennas, i get about 5 MBit/sec at best for where i am. I got less than 1 when my family uses the wifi, there are 3 of us a total.

Remember, 5 megabits per second means something like 0.6 megabytes per second. That's not a lot of bandwidth to be sharing.

As above, an ethernet cable is going to make zero difference with such low total bandwidth! Upgrade your plan if you can!

Alright, i checked my speed when i'm completely alone, it's about 33 MB/sec

33 megabits is a very small. That accounts to 3 megabytes and with 3 people online at once you only have 1 MB at your disposal. Honestly waiting for wifi speeds to get better in your area is the best option. Try calling the company and telling them you are switching. They usually will offer a better deal (greater speeds) for close to the price you are paying now.

It would seem your major issue is the WiFi to your PC.

Get an ethernet cable of sufficient length, to connect directly to the router.

What about placing putting a Access Point outside of my room or a WiFi repeater in my room, will it help?

A WiFi repeater/Access Point in your room sees exactly the same crappy WiFi signal from the router that your PC does now.

Watch this. I think this may help you. It's not very expensive. $50 in usa.

fq_codel uses algo's to drop packs from hungry connections and will not drop it from gaming.
This effectively throttles the TCP side. packets are serviced round robin opposed to fifo that is traditional. this allows small packets of gaming to cut in line and get in/out with priority.
