I re-installed windows 7 (using the same cd as before) on my desktop but now for some reason my games won't work - CSGO will open but then just stops working and "stoppped working, windows is ckecking for the reason" type message appears. Same with Guild Wars 2, especially when I go into an instance, it stops working almost immediately. Aion won't start up at all. I redownloaded all the games, and ran my graphics card cd but nothing worked. I also tried to run it off an external hard drive but same thing happens. What is going on?

Solution
First run all the Windows updates, install the drivers for your computer from the motherboard vendor, install video card drivers from their support site (not just the disk that came with it), check things after that.

When you re-installed Windows, you installed all the programs clean again correct? Or did you try just copying the existing files over to the new setup?
