Corsair VS550 fan noise

After about 10 minutes playing modded Minecraft (260 mods), the power supply fan starts spinnig fast and making a lot of noise (you can clearly hear it from afar while talking).
I had another PSU in the same computer before and it didn't make so much noise.
The fan goes fast, then a little bit slower, then faster, etc and It's very distracting.

The PSU is warm to the touch.
The PSU is at the top of the case pointing downwards.

I need to change to another PSU, I need to change the airflow or is it defective and I need to change it?

  • MDB: Asus B150M-A/M.2
    CPU: Intel Core I5-6400
    Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti Windforce OC
    RAM: Kingston HyperX 2133 C14
    HDD: Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB
    PSU: Corsair VS550
No oveclocks

No, those have known issues like taking out motherboards and GPU's

CX500 is old model with Green label. Those are not good.
CX550(2017) is new model with Grey label. They are better.

Well, I bought a CX550 and it still makes a lot of noise when in load, I also noticed that it only heats up when the CPU it's under load, and it doesn't care about anything else, so maybe I put the cabels wrong, but I can't see how, because they have shapes in the connector and is impossible to connect them worng I tink, so maybe is something with the cpu, but I looked the consumption and its like at 30W starts to make far more noise for example than the HDD.

How certain are you about the noise emanating from the PSU itself??? Monitor and detect the source keeping the side panel open. Also monitor the temps of your components. If you cannot find anything significant, RMA it as it is still within return window. Two consecutive units cannot give you the same problem. If you want you can get the CXM variant which has better internals.
If all of them gives the same problem, then your source is somewhere else.

I am sure the noise is from the PSU because I had another one that made less. If i touch the psu, is hot, and I don't have any component drawing a lot of power, so it should not be hot. It is almost impossible to not connect properly the cables, so I think that i will change back to my other cheap PSU that seems to work better that the well-known brands
