Just building first pc, I understand an optical drive is required for the initial setup to install drivers and so, but can any optical drive be used for installing drivers on discs? For example will the ASUS 24x DVDRW SATA work for when I need to set up my pc?

Solution
Any optical drive should work however if installing the drivers you are best getting the ones from the manufacturers website as these will be the most up to date
you dont need a dvd drive for todays pc unless you have some old games on disk. today microsoft gives out windows iso free and the tool (windows media creation tool) to make a bootable usb stick now. all you need is an 8g or larger usb stick and a pc to run the tool. once the tool is done making the usb stick all you need to do is make a folder called drivers. and then copy the drivers from the mb cd to the usb stick. those drivers will work but the newest ones will be online if you want to go to your mb vendor web page and download them. for the dvd drive you have to order a sata data cable that has the length to go from the drive to the mb sata ports. most mb give you one or two short ones.
