1. The risk of damaging your monitor is always there
2. Some monitors run as if they are running faster after OCed but in the reality they just ditch those extra frames. Some are really OCable.
3. Monitor OC doesnot really bring much.
4. Not all monitors are OCable.
I tend to completely ignore monitor OC

If you're operating a device outside of its' specification, obviously you increase chance of failure and deterioration of components.

Monitor over clocking is not totally safe and not totally dangerous. You dont need to overclock your monitor if your fps cant even match the refresh rate of the oc'ed monitor but for the sake of trying it, the risk is worth it as you can gain valuable experience.

Most of the time, trying it for just a bit, will not cause any damage but still it all depends on how hard you overclock so you need to be careful.
