So..... my friend wanted to start mining for some reason, and he asked me if i could help him. I came with this rig and let me know if i should change anything

CPU : Processor Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz LGA 775
Motherboard : Some IDK Motherboard i have lying around
RAM : DDR2 4GB
Storage : 250 GB HDD
PSU : 450 Watt EVGA
VGA : GTX 1060 3gb

Solution
the 6GB version of the 1060 or an AMD equivalent card like the RX570 8GB, this card needs more power and extra PCIe power connectors from the power supply

If he's looking at mining Ethereum, 3GB video cards aren't able to mine it anymore w/o serious problems (thus why the prices of them are 'somewhat' normal). Any mining capable cards are stupidly expensive right now due to miners (they're finally starting to come down now); with most notable coins not really profitable to mine right now unless you already have the GPUs and cheap electricity. If he wants to play around with any of the minor coins out there, the system will work though.

If he wants to get involved in cryptocurrency to try and make money, he's further off buying instead of mining coins.

eventually your IDK motherboard doesn´t support newer gen graphics cards

don´t know the actual hashrate for something like this, but usually a 1060 3gb should get about 15mh/s

eventually eutherium is not possible for 3gb cards in the future
