sharing files from PC to other network connected devices.... i removed access from everyone, including myself (owner)... now i get the "access denied" pop-up. i did not realize i would be excluding myself. i can still access the drive and all files via a shortcut from the desktop, but that's it! how do i restore privileged access, even better how do i restore access to all devices on my newtork? please advise....

p.s.
the drive would share with all other devices on my network, EXCEPT my phone. i have had the problem in the past. i would simply unshare, then share again, problem fixed. it wasn't that easy this time =/

Windows 10?

Be aware that Microsoft has made changes with respect to sharing etc. Home Group, for example, is no more.

E.g.:

And you may have run afoul of the security configurations involved. All too easy to do as you have noted.

I.e., "removed access from everyone, including myself (owner)".

Ensure that you have reinstated yourself as the applicable admin person with the necessary admin rights to each participating device that is sharing drives, folders, and files.

Make note of the required shares. What is being shared, what devices, folders, files, and the users allowed access be the access "Read Only" up to Full Access".

Then end the shares...

Then end the shares all and start over, one by one. Once you have one share functioning then use that configuration as a template for creating the remaining shares that you need.
