upgrading motherboard from z97 to something better

Hi everyone, i have a msi z97 gaming 7 motherboard, i want to upgrade to a z370,
so the real question is, it there a difference in the one I select or do they all have the same specs.

They are "similar" all have same basics, finished in different way.
you can get more USB, less internal sata or m.2 or additional GPU slot paying with something else.

each motherboard from cheap to expensive will have variations such as maximum speed of DDR4 ram it can handle, M.2 drive types, number of USB ports, type of usb ports, how many x16 pcie slots you have, some are sli some are not etc. etc... what are you looking in a system? and what is you budget.

I want to upgrade my motherboard and cpu and ram of coarse, its for gaming and rendering purposes im running on a gtx 1070 at the moment with 24gb ram

what video card do you have ? anything special about your system that would warrant a 250$ motherboard over a 50$ motherboard?
