My dvd drive keeps dissapearing from windows. I have tried all the fixes online and when i restart my laptop it shows up however as soon as i attempt to play or rip a cd the dvd drive dissapears. i have been attempting to rip somewhere around 50 cds for my boss i got about 20 aand this problem happened

May well be that the DVD drive has failed.
However, there may be a loose connection inside the laptop: power and/or data to the DVD drive.
Laptop "sees" the DVD but as soon as there is some activity (drive spins) the internal connections fail.
Fix would be to open the laptop up and check the applicable connections.
Or, because you are attempting to "rip" the process may be running afoul of some anti-piracy protections.
