Router restarts while uploading data

It seems whenever I upload a file such as a YouTube video or when I screen share on discord, my router restarts. I don't have any issues with downloading data. I haven't changed any router settings or installed any additional devices. So far I've only noticed this happening on my desktop and not any other devices. Unsure if it has to do with this computer because I don't really upload anything on other devices. I don't get any error messages when it restarts.

Only 7 devices on the network and not being used at the same time. 4 phones, 2 laptops, 1 desktop

WiFi adapter: RNX-N180UBE
Driver Version:1086.38.1125.2010
Windows 7
Motherboard:MSI H81M-P33

Router: Sagemcom Fast 5260
Modem: Cisco DPC3208
Charter Wireless Connection

Thanks for any help I receive.

Please try to provide more information with respect to "router restarts".

E.g., Do the router's LED's change? What, in detail, happens to the router?

Does the router have any logs and are those logs enabled? The log entries may provide some helpful information.

And try some uploads via other network connected devices. Objective being to isolate the problem to just the desktop in question or, more broadly, the network router.

I also have a SagemCom Fast 5260 WiFi router.

I have no problems downloading, but when attempting to upload large files, or multiple smaller files that add up to, say, over 5MB, the router restarts.

There are not warning lights to interpret. The unit simply reboots. And it kicks every other device off the internet while it restarts. It usually takes a few minutes before the computers and other devices are back online. In my case, it is clear that this is not the fault of the PC or Mac (both of which I use simultaneously for work), but the router, as either machine can cause this outage during an upload of any size. Since I also use Dropbox, it, too, will cause the router to balk when attempting to add a bunch of files.

I was able to replicate this problem for the Spectrum (TimeWarner) tech, who replaced the router. Despite the replacement, the situation continues.

For the record, I am using a MacBook Pro (early 2013) and a Dell Windows 7 desktop PC connected via WiFi. This happens with the 2G as well as the 5G connections. When this happens, the cable modem does not quit, only the wifi router.

Any thoughts? Anyone else experiencing the same?

I believe that is for a different router. According to what I was able to find online, I have the latest version of the firmware.

I am not sure which version I had in the previous router. But the behavior is certainly repeatable and seems to be a flaw, given that it has happened with both routers and with multiple devices from my end.

Good thought. I will check the next time it happens, or when I have the time to force it to happen, since it's fairly readily triggered by uploading a large file.

Thanks.
