I keep getting bad lag and even random disconnects while playing a lot of games. Overwatch is practically unplayable because everyone looks like they're ice skating around. Way less games like League my ms will go up to 10k+ and I cant even play.

I try to play hearthstone with runescape in the background and i will lag like hell too.

What could it be and how can I fix this? I have a radeon 380x gpu and 5th or 6th gen i5 cpu. I was planning on upgrading but now im afraid to because I don't think it's the parts that are making it trash. I do have a wireless adapter but thats cause it would be a pain in the .... to connect to my modem.

Jepp. Its an Rj45 Cat 5e or Cat6 Patch Cable. If you have got an router: Sticking a cable into the router and the other end into your PC should be an easy task :)

WLAN is a very complicated matter. There are so many problems wich can happen, that you will be better off with Gaming via an Ethernet connection. WLAN is fine for surfing the web, connect your phone and such. Even for streaming video etherent should be preferred over WLAN.
Have you tried different servers?

Have you performed online tests to see what your bandwidth and ping numbers look like?

Are there other devices on the wireless connection?

What is the type of wireless connection?

Have you tried other frequency ranges, such as 5 GHz, or just 2.4 GHz?

Are there a lot of wireless networks in your area that could be conflicting?

Have you tried to identify what the least congested WiFi channels are, and set your access point to use those?

Have you investigated the quality of the WiFi signal your computer is getting?

Despite it being a pain, have you tried running a temporary Ethernet cable to eliminate or improve the above things and determined that you get the same lag over Ethernet?

I switched from my 2-G internet to 5-G and then did a speed test. My result was 24ms ping, 16.4mbs download, 3.22mbs upload. There are some other people in my house on the connection but they don't game at most they watch youtube.

It seems like the connection is atleast decent but the moment I play a Fps or moba I will lag like hell
