Hi folks,

I've completely new to OC and it's got to the point where i've had this computer for about 2 years and my RAM is 2400 Mhz but it's running at 1600Mhz I believe, due to my CPU needs to be a higher click (4.2Ghz it needs to be at least?) and then my RAM can run at full speed.

I have the Corsair H100i and have enough fan cooling in my PC which should handle the heat anyway. But haven't ever felt comfortable over-clocking as it's also alot of effort (in my opinion) to over-clock and test. But now I would like to actually do it so my PC is running as the specifications should.

Anyone able to assist me as I've read multiple forums and youtube videos but as none of them are for my motherboard/cpu, the settings are different so I didn't want to guess they mean this and do that.

I can take whatever pictures needed and such and would be totally grateful to those which can assist.

Alot of the manual options in BIOS aren't able to be changed so I'm guessing there is an option in it which should ungrey them out.

CASE: Corsair Obsidian 750D
MBD: MSI Z97 Gaming-7
CPU: Intel i7 4790K
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Hydro Series
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2400Mhz)
GPU: ASUS GTX 1080 Ti ROG STRIX OC
PSU: EVGA 750W SuperNOVA G2

Also on that note, I'm happy just to reach 4.4Ghz (I know the turbo speed is that, but for it to run constant 4.4Ghz I would prefer). Not too bothered about trying to reach the maximum, so just a step up.

Just to confirm your RAM is running at the right speed...Its is 1200 x 2 for 2400...your is actually running at 1199.8 which is just about 1200 which you times by 2 to get the actual speed...As said before, just change the multiplyer to 44 and see if you are stable on auto settings first. Then if not, then start upping the vcore in very small increments startin at 1.25v...once stable, you can go for 45 - 4.5GHz.

I had the 4790K and it did 4.4GHz all core for me on auto just by changing the multipler to 44...
you have to get familiar with the BIOS.
RAM settings are not really related to the CPU. You can just enable XMP profile for the RAM to work on advertised speed.
as for CPU, it's simple. increase the multiplier to 45 for all cores and adjust the core voltage to 1.2-1.25v

Hi mate, I enable XMP and it doesn't change my RAM speed it seems. It says to make it run at 2400 but when in windows, everything i've used has said still 1600mhz.

Okay, i'll take a look. I did read online that the RAM speed of 2400 is only supported on a higher clock, otherwise my current CPU doesn't support 2400 unless OC'd.
