All right, so...
I recently installed a ZyXEL powerline Ethernet adapter, and it does connect. However, there is a HUGE speed issue with it.
In the room with the router, with a plug close to the router and transmitting adapter, the receiving adapter lets me download on Steam at about 3.0 - 3.5 mb/s. I consider that to be good, since it did not fluctuate like my wifi.
However, in my room, which is JUST ACROSS THE HALLWAY, my Steam download speeds average 1.3 mb/s. The plug I tested in the router room and the plug I use in my room are about 1.5 meters away!
My guess is that the wiring does not directly connect the two rooms at a nearby point. However, if you can think of a way to fix this, it would help me greatly.
Thanks!

Possibly the outlets are on a different fuse circuit. You have the option to run an ethernet cable from the powerline adapter, find out the wiring circuits in the house and place the adapter accordingly or plug a wifi AP to the adapter. Not much else I can think of. I assume the wiring in the house is not alu, but copper (better).
