I currently have a g3258 paired with a gtx 1050. I'd like to switch to a newer platform as cheap as possible, so i decided to go with the am4. I currently have found a fine and cheap motherboard, 8gb ddr4 2400mhz RAM(relatively cheap), a cheap new case(my old case is bad) and a new cheap PSU(because i don't want to take the risk with my old bad psu). Now I need to choose between a Ryzen 3 1200 and a Ryzen 5 1400. The 1200 costs 75 euros and the 1400 costs 118 euros. The 1200 pairs quite fine with the gtx 1050 and the 1400(a friend of mine has it paired with a gtx 1050) from his point of view works also great with a gtx 1050. I am on a budget, so I was wondering whether the 43 extra euros would be worth it or should i just go with the 1200.

try keep it to one thread. makes it easier for you to get a clear answer:

if aint broke, don't fix it. If your current setup is doing what you want, then stick with it.

However, your dual core will be left in the dust for any new games. It will possibly even bottleneck your GPU in demanding games.

If you were thinking of an upgrade to either CPU's above, then of the two, i'd take the R5 1400. It's a 4 core/8 thread CPU, and will be a substantial upgrade to your G3258.

Keep in mind, you will need a new mobo to go with the new CPU, and probably some new ram, as your current DDR3 ram won't work with Ryzen.

Like coozie and I pointed out the R1400 is the better option and is a solid performer.
A far cheaper option would be to drop a used CPU into the current motherboard, if you're looking at a GTX1050/1060 class of card a Haswell i5 will be more than capable of keeping up and should be a drop in upgrade.

Don't try to cheap out too much with the PSU, the system you have in mind will run quite comfortably off a 500Watt unit.

The case is yours to choose but you shouldn't have many problems finding a decent one for <>50 Euro.

I'd go for the R5 1400.
