G.Skill Trident Ram, confused if it is compatible

Hi Guys

Bought the Gigabyte z370 Aorus Gaming 7, and am currently waiting for 4 sticks of Gskill Trident ram , F4-3600C16Q-32GTZR 32 GB (8 GB x 4) Trident Z RGB Series DDR4 3600 MHz.

As per Gskill website on the ram configurator they are compatible.
However as per gigabye QVL vendors list it is not on that list ... only G.SKILL F4-3600C16D-16GTZR 16 GB (8 GB x 2) Trident Z RGB Series DDR4 3600 is on their list. I thought fair enough, ill buy 2 x the 2 pack but amazon only lets me buy one per customer.

Do you guys think i can use the 32 gb ram mentioned above as it is confirmed on the Gskill website , or should i not risk it and buy the pack of 2 and then source the other 2 somewhere else ?

Hope someone can help :) as im quite confused here.

I'd wait. Get the ones you've ordered and try them out. Make sure to update the latest bios to ensure best chances.

It may be that Gigabyte haven't updated the QVL with those exact DIMMS, that's not to say that Gskill didn't complete testing on it.

Either way, see how XMP goes, hopefully it will pick them up straight away. If not dial them in manually. Timings and voltage.

Keep in mind though, if all four slots are occupied, I don't think you can hit the max rated speed of the dimms. I think it might be limited to 2933.

Out of curiosity , why is this the case ? Limitations on my motherboard choice ?

And am i still correct in thinking 4 sticks are better than 2 , even at the lower speeds ?

4 sticks is only better than 2 if the board supports Quad channel and the Z370 boards don't, they only support single and dual channel operation. So there isn't really and performance difference. Awhile ago some memory controllers had issues with all dimms being populated to the point it required tweaking speed and or voltage settings but I haven;t seen that issue for a few generations.

Right! So then ill just go for 2 sticks, since it seems like only a waste of money.. :)

I am getting that right then? It would just be a waste if get four sticks of ram on my motherboard ?

But why would anyone get 4 sticks on motherboards like mine ? What sort of benefit would i be looking at ?

Sorry for all the questions, i just want to make sure i am not wasting money since enough is going into this build :)
