Worthy Upgrade from 980ti?

Running 6700k, 16GB Ballistix Tactical, Asus z170 ar, and gigabyte 980ti windforce.

my issue with the card is that it barely.overclocks.... would a 1080 be a notable upgrade for 1440p 144hz gaming?

1080ti is what you seek if you want noticeable performance gains. If I were you I'd wait till the new stuff comes out. As you will really be able to next level when the new 1180/2080 ti comes out. 1080 just won't be a noticable difference if any, pass.
