Okay so i have a PC im looking to upgrade a cpu in, i'm basically here to ask if it will work out for me or not or if its even worthwhile. Ive been looking at the FX-8350, price is somewhat of an issue so if this isn't possible i'm not looking to do any Mobo changes or anything until way later on.

Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P

AMD FX-6300

Nvidia GTX 1050

G.SKILL F3 DDR3 1600 C9 2x4GB

WD Blue 500GB (2010)

Taken these specs off of userbenchmark so if there's anything else missing you need to know let me know!

Thanks in advance

Most will tell you it's not worth the upgrade to another FX series CPU. They are simply too expensive for the little performance they offer. The FX-8350 offers about the same gaming performance as a new $60 Pentium dual-core w/ Hyper-Threading.

Save up for a new CPU/Mobo/RAM combo to bring you up to the current-gen of CPUs.

What to do you use your PC for? If you mostly use productivity apps that needs juice and can find the 8350 very inexpensively, it can be worth it. For gaming and basic office/internet/watching videos/etc. you probably won't get a significant enough boost to make it worthwhile. Best to save that money towards a future upgrade that *can* be significant. Unless you have a truly compelling reason to upgrade, I don't see a good cost/benefit ratio for you in upgrading a 2012 platform that's always been a bit underwhelming.

For around $300 bucks, you could be in a Ryzen 3. Your big issue will be RAM and form factor. I would honestly suggest that you move to AT LEAST an SSD before considering the upgrade. You may be surprised at how much faster it will run.
