Guys.need some help. It says in crucial that max I can upgrade my toshiba satellite L650 is 8gb ram. Using ddr3 8500s 1066mhz 204pin. My laptop is running in 32 bit. Ive heard 32 bit only supports 3gb. So confused if I should buy the ram or not. Coz mine is only at the moment 2gb of ram. Please help.

Solution
That 8GB max that Crucial states is purely based on the max that the laptop itself physically supports - - the OS is a separate issue altogether - - 32-bit Windows can only address up to around 3.5MB depending on how the PC is configured (in other words, no point installing more than 4GB).

4GB of physical RAM is the best option. You'll get somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 GB, depending on your setup. Whether another 2GB (identical) stick is available, or if you can get 1x4GB or 2x2GB to replace the current RAM, is up to you.

Will it be worth it? It depends on the system's mission critical purpose. A well-tweaked operating system might save you some money on extra RAM. Reducing the amount of RAM being used at startup can't hurt.
