I recently started installing a new mobo and CPU. Everything webt fine until I couldn't fit the ram in, then I noticed the ram slots on the mobo have the bump in the middle whereas the ram stocks have the indent near the bottom. I don't know where to go from here and have been stuck for a while.

And is there anyway to tell other than looking at where the indent is for what type of ram it is?

What motherboard do you have and if your ddr3 not fitting in then most likely you have an ddr4 motherboard I made this mistake when i replaced my MB bought an ddr4 one and had ddr3 ram

Generally memory has a sticker on it listing either a serial number (which you can google), or memory type, or both.
