Is it safe to take off the ram lock?

I'm making a super compact itx build and I'm using an hdplex PSU (same thing as pico) but I can't put it in the motherboard because the heatsink is stuck on one ram lock. removing the hdplex heatsink is not possible, so the only option is to cut the ram lock. This is a gigabyte ab350n motherboard, is it safe to remove the ram lock? Will I still be able to use the board and ram slot? Thanks.

Solution
Use extension cable.

On Amazon Prime, it only really had dual power supply cables. Would this work?

So we need to get this all done by the end of the day tomorrow. I ordered this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B07931JTS9/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1527021522&sr=8-4&rps=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=24%2Bpin%2Bpsu%2Bextension%2Bcable&dpPl=1&dpID=41ow2y1yezL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

We used a sanding tool on the test board, it was a bit messy but it seemed fine. I don't know if I'm going to use it on the new board, but I might have to if the cable takes up too much space. I'll give an update tomorrow and the case should also be built by tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys
