hi team,

heres my current rig, mainly for multimedia creations

- i76700k
- 32gigs 2400 corsair ddr4 ram
- 2 500gigs ssd-> 1 is for drive os, the other one is for media Scratch disk and storage of rpoject files (AE, PR, PS, AI files etc.)
- 3 tb mechanical drive storage
- gtx 1050ti
- msi motherboard m3
-750watt psu

questions:

1. what is the fastest processor that i can slap into my current motherboard without ditching it.
2. if i am getting the 1080ti, will i have a balanced system? (processor-gpu-memory power ratio?), do i have to upgrade my 750watt psu?

thank you in advance!

Solution
The fastest processor you can put on that motherboard is 7700K (which is 2% faster then your 6700k), practically the 6700K is almost identical with 7700K (4C/8T both of them, 7700K slightly faster clocks). In all honesty you already have the fastest processor because 7700k is almost same thing as 6700k. Second question, a gtx 1080 ti will be a good match for your processor, as for RAM you are already set, 32GB is a more then enought amount. To answer you about the power supply, i must know exactly brand and model. Chinesse cheap PSUs says 700W but delivers 300W a good quality PSU says 620W and can take up to 700W for short periods of time.

thanks man! appreciated! I guess I have to stick with my processor and hit the shelves for the 1080ti, the brand of my psu is Hunter.

Hunter? Never heard of it. If you are swapping out the 1080Ti, swap out that PSU. It is likely poor quality.
