Hello

i asked this question at monitor section but i couldnt get the answer that i want because i asked the wrong section

Currently im using one monitor . most of the time Im playing a game ( path of exile ) and at the same time im opening chrome then opening youtube videos or twitch streams(just watching , not streaming ) .

So i wanted to the use secondary monitor so i can watch youtube videos or streams without alt+tabbing ( its so annoying )

My secondary monitor has only VGA input , Samsung SyncMaster E2220

Problem is as far as i know Game using the GPU while chrome using the onboard iGPU while im playing the game and opening videos at chrome ,

1 - So if i connect my secondary monitor to my onboard iGPU via using VGA input then its the same thing that im doing atm ?

2 - What if i connect my secondary monitor to the GPU too ? Both will use the GPU ?

Sole purpose of these questions are that i want to use secondary monitor and i dont want to harm/overload my GPU nor onbard iGPU

So which port should i use for my both monitors ?

My primary monitor has VGA and DVI-D(dual link)
--Asus 21.5 VS228NE 5ms 1920x1080 60Hz DVI

My secondary monitor has only VGA
--Samsung SyncMaster E2220

My system

Processor
-Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz 6MB Cache LGA 1150

GPU
-Galax GeForce GTX1050Ti EX OC 4GB 128Bit GDDR5

motherboard
-Asus H81M-K Intel H81 1600MHz DDR3 mATX

Memory / RAM
-Kingston DDR3 8GB HyperX Fury 1600MHz CL10

PSU
-High Power 500W ECO active PFC

SSD
-Adata SU800 128GB 560-520MB/s

Thank You !

I'm not sure if your motherboard supports this or not so you will have to go into the bios and give it a try. The setting to enable both would be in Advanced > System Agent Configuration > Graphics Configuration > Enable CPU Graphics Multi monitor. If so you will also need the Intel GPU driver installed, which you can get from Intel downloads.

Your 1050 GPU can run two monitors but your problem will be finding an adapter since your card has only one DVI connector in addition to the HDMI and DP connectors.

You need to enable your integrated graphic in the Bios in order to use it and set your desktop in an extended mode: with your Asus monitor as main and the Samsung as secondary
It's best to run both monitors of the same GPU for greater and seamless display control.

for running both monitors off the same GPU(1050) i probably need 2 adapters for both monitors but the thing that i dont understand is
i will only run chrome or office word at my secondary monitor so arent these programs using my iGPU right now ?

so if i connect my secondary monitor to the iGPU its the same situation as im in at the moment ?

so it will give him more work to do to 1050 when i run both monitors off the same GPU and less work to do to iGPU ?

This is why im in indecision . i dont want my GPU to get more work since its already battling right know with games atleast im feeling like this . path of exile seems like it needs low system requirement but end game has alot of adds

i will buy high quality adapters if we can make sure which will be optimal for my system

-No they aren't already running of your iGPU: Latest desktops motherboards are not set for combining graphics integrated graphic with discrete one (it's the privilege of laptops use to save power with AMD and intel combining GPU and iGPU in automatic power efficient or performance efficient scheme)

- I don't think there is a built in solution with 4th generation intel (was possible with 3rd generation intel CPU with Lucid's Vertu software platform)

-Your graphic card would drive 2 monitors effortlessly, there is no significant impact on it's clocks, temps or gaming performance, I have a dual monitor setup 1920x1200 24" Acer 1ms + Samsung T240HD Television @2048x1536 and the card still runs cool and at the lowest clocks is capable to drive both monitors.

_ you can always give your suggestion a try and see if it works for you:* Samsung TV attached to the onboard graphics, and * Asus Monitor to your GPU, and see if there is any major performance and/or convenience benefit.

since we made clear that we are using GPU for all tasks i decided to buy new monitor because i dont want it to connect to the iGPU and good adapters are like total 50 $ so yeah thank you for making clear the situation for me . It enlightened me a bit

also do you have any suggestion for a new monitor ? my budget is like 70-80 $ .

should i just buy a cheaper one with Display port since its only use will be word and chrome

or are there any feature that i should check also ?

I would suggest that any inexpensive monitor with a DP connector would be appropriate for use with just Word or Chrome. The cost will of course vary with size so you will have to decide if a smaller monitor will work for you, rather than say a 24 inch.
