The cards and specs are here, I know it will default down to the slower card, everything is identical except the clocks...

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition DirectX 11 3GB
- core clock: 1050mhz
- boost clock: 1100mhz
and
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970 DirectX 11 100351SR 3GB
- core clock: 950mhz
- boost clock: 1000mhz

Will that 100mhz make a significant difference in FPS performance or will it be very minimal thanks to there being a whole new card? Also is it possible to only overclock the Sapphire up 100mhz on both? Thanks, would appreciate a quick reply since its an eBay bid payment waiting.

There wont be much of a difference because of the 100Mhz, and yes you can OC them back to the same speed.

I personally would not recommend buying another 7970 for Xfire though, the performance gains wont be very impressive, youll also have to make sure the games you play actually support Xfire (along with all the other restrictions, PSU, MOBO, etc).

I would recommend saving the money for a new, single card.

There isn't a lof of games out there with multi-GPU support, and even then you will not see huge performance gains, with a few exceptions (sniper elite, far cry 5 maybe?)
