Hey, tech newbie here.
So I have an old HP Compaq 6910p that I’m trying to upgrade, but it’s giving me some difficulties.
Whenever I boot it up, one of two things will happen: 1. It boots to the login screen, where it asks for my password and then freezes while typing it in, or 2. It freezes at some point during boot up.
Usually I can get to dilemma number 1, but only after coming back after a couple hours break. Afterwards, dilemma number 2 starts happening. I would appreciate any help I could get! Example:
(First 5 minutes) issue 1
(After that) issue 2
(Couple hour break) issue 1
And so on
Ps: it runs Linux mint 18 (the latest one, would that be an issue?) please let me know if I’m being unclear

2gb pc2 5300 RAM
Intel duo core cpu t7300
320gb hdd
