Hi
Ive had a 390 for about a year now but yesterday i was playing Fallout 4 and Afk'd for a bit, came back to my PC with a black screen.

I reset it and got the BIOS screen and the Win 10 load screen then black screen when it loaded in to win 10, i changed the card to a 280X and that card worked.

Changed it back the the 390 and it had video in Win for about 90 seconds then black screen.

the 390 has not been overclocked and has never been above 60c

My friend thinks it could be the latest Win 10 update.

Please help Cant afford a new card.

Solution
Most likely a power supply issue, i had something similar happen on my 6950 a couple of years ago. PSU was going bad and soon after starting anything taxing on the GPU would just black screen.

If you have another PSU i'd check on that, and you can get good psu's for 60-75 bucks so much less than a new card.
One of the 80+ gold rated 650-750W models from EVGA/Seasonic/Corsair should do the trick easily.
Such as: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650 $69.99

But try to check first if it indeed is the psu.
