Hi,

I'm just starting to build my first gaming PC and I'm in the middle of building it so I have some questions.

1. I have msi x470 gaming plus mobo and a 750w G2 psu. I was wondering, on the back of my PSU there is 2x(2x4pin) cpu connector (cpu1 and cpu2). My mobo has an 8 pin cpu1 pwr and a 4 pin cpu2 pwr. MY question is, Can I connect the cpu 1 8pin and the cpu 2 4pin in those connectors ? I heard the 4 pin is for extra power when you do extrem OC. I will probably OC my ram and my cpu which are 16gb 3000mhz and ryzen 2600x.

2. For my PSU. is it necessary to connect all the VGA,CPU,SATA connector on the psu ? I will be using only 2 sata cable, 1 vga and maybe 2 cpu pwr.

3. I installed my H100i v2 corsair water cooler and I found weird to connect the water cooler to a USB connector. is there a difference in which USB connector I plug the water cooler ?

4. Right now I have 1 front fan intake ( from my case, fractal design meshify C) , 1 back fan for exhaust and my 2x120mm water cooler fan on top of my case as exhaust. is it enough for my rig ?

6. for my PSU, is there a better way to put the psu in the case ? up or down ? i put it down so the fan would be on the bottom and the cables connectors would readable.

7. is there an importance to which SATA1 or SATA2 or SATA3 the HDD and SSD are connected ? I have a 500gb SSD connected to my psu Sata 1, a 128GB SSD connected to the same SATA1 ( it has 3 connectors on the PSU' sata cable) and 1tb HDD connected to the Sata 2.

thanks a lot!!

i don't think ram oc and cpu would need the 2nd pin, consult your motherboard manual, you should be able to run everything without cpu2 cable.

no, you only connect what you...

#1 -- Yes, you should do what you listed.
#2 -- The benefit of a modular power supply is that you don't have to connect unused cables. Just don't loose them. You may add something in the future and need more power cables.
#7 -- Power cables to disk drives don't matter.

no, you only connect what you need. extra cables to impede airflow.

it could be that the cooler is able to send information/rgb over the usb interface, instead just getting power from sata ports.

4. Right now I have 1 front fan intake ( from my case, fractal design meshify C) , 1 back fan for exhaust and my 2x120mm water cooler fan on top of my case as exhaust. is it enough for my rig ?

cooling alone looks enough, but i think the system is negatively pressured, adding a second intake fan or having the AIO as intake and single fan as exhaust for a more balanced air flow. negatively pressured system tends to gather dust inside.

6. for my PSU, is there a better way to put the psu in the case ? up or down ? i put it down so the fan would be on the bottom and the cables connectors would readable.

it will depends on the floor that you have, i would put it up if you got carpet.

hdd and ssd don't consume that much power, you can use 1 cable to connect both.

If you have the connectors, plug them in, You're not going to hurt anything and if you decide to overclock heavily one day its already there and ready. Components only use what they need, not what you offer them.

That will depends on how motherboard is wired, in this board I doubt that’s the case, the location of the four pin is too far from the pcie slot, for power plane on mobo, you want this to be shorter so that it does not run across the entire board to deliver th 12 v. Personally, I don’t think a 2600x pulls that much power, having the wire half connected, to the 4pin, well it’s up to you.
