Solution
You need a platform upgrade and even then your 950 will hold you back. Since GPU prices are somewhat normal again I would get a 1060/580 and plan on upgrading the CPU/RAM/Mobo later this year.

What are your
CPU/GPU
RAM
RAM usage under load
Hard drive disk usage under load.
Internet connection speed and provider
OS and update level
Anti Virus and are you using Gaming mode if you have one.

FPS drops can be a few things in Fortnight

1. Their servers are under heavy load and your about to be kicked off.... then it solves itself " I see this on Prime Time every few days"
2. You Hardware reaches a peak " With a 140ish fps I don't really see that being a issue"
3. Your RAM or Disk Usage is peaking at a bad time.
4. Internet Connection is having a packet issue
5. Program Mostly AV is attempting to do something in the background and peaking your CPU
6. Unstable Driver on your GPU/ Network card

what hardware are you running? does your system meet the minimum or recommended requirements? how long do the frame drops last before going back up? Do you have an antivirus on while playing?

software fixes:

1. Check task manager and see what processes are running when you are gaming and ending any unneeded tasks.

2. Make sure your drivers are up to date.

3. In the game settings, you can disable anti-aliasing and shadows. you can also lower your settings for textures, effects, and view distance.

Sorr my specs:
Amd fx 6300 6 core cpu
Msi 2gb gtx 950 oc
Dual channel 8 gb of ram
Decent internet( no packet loss because there is a indicator of packet loss in game and its always at 0%)
No ssd
Temps hardly ever go up to 70°
I play on all lowest settings so no anti aliasing or vsync isnt the blame here.
The drops hardly ever go to so low as 20, usually 60. The drops are a frequent thing, ive seen them apear for every fortnite player ive met irl, and its atleast 12 of them
