So lately i have been struggling getting good solid pingtimes in my room, which happens to be the furthest possible point away from the router in the basement. Running a direct line outside of the house is not an option, so i have been looking into alternatives. Upon researching various alternatives, i came across ethernet over coax, MoCA stuff.
My current ISP also provides digital television, and since the house I live in was built in the mid 90's, it is not wired with anything better than coax and old phone line that is incapable of carrying fast internet. In order to get television to the 2nd floor, they used ethernet over coax with their own system which runs through the coax in my house.
My question is, would purchasing an adapter to run internet through the same coax lines interfere with this signal? There is a coax port in the room adjacent to me, so my thought process was run internet though an adapter from the basement to that room, run the ethernet along the corners of the room, and install a plug in the closet of that room since it leads straight to my own room.
Any thoughts here?
