Hi all!

First, a little history with details to understand what happened:

I was using my PC, then it suddenly shutted down.
When i tried to restart it most of the time it won't showed me nothing on display,
then, sometimes it worked well and showed me the normal pc boot with BIOS display etc etc,
but after some time it rebooted itself.

I opened the case the see what's was happening at PC's boot and one of the GPU's light
was cheked, precisely that: "D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault".

The problem is that the -RED LED- light on at PC start, even after some hours of no pc-using.

I thought there was some dust inside the GPU or maybe thermal paste completely dry,
so i opened the GPU to clean it and to change thermal paste; doing so, i checked for some
dust even on other computer's parts like PSU and CPU: they were clean.

I tried to reboot the PC but the problem wasn't solved: in like 20 times i rebooted the PC, only 2
worked well so i downloaded SpeedFan to watch my PC's temperatures and the only component listed
"hot" was the GPU at 60° (that's strange 'cause it's not a really hot temperature for the GPUs);
so i manually increased GPU speed fan to lower temperature but after some minutes, PC always restart.

I double checked everything, but now, after two days, PC won't boot: it start "working" (fans and everything)
but the LED D1601 on GPU always stay red and now sometimes even the LED D601 flashes! So i can't see nothing
on display and can't even access the BIOS.

I was thinking the problem was the PSU, so i changed from an ALLIED Premier Model: DR 8500BTX (max 500W) to a
Corsair VS550 ATX.

After changing the the PSU, the problematic leds disappeared from the GPU, but even after that the PC won't beep and/or show the BOOT.

Display stays always black, so I tried a lot these things:

- powering the PC with and without RAM, VGA or hard disk: it makes "beeps" (precisely 3) only without RAM.
- tried to swap the RAMs into different sockets
- used the "Clear RTC RAM2 with/out jumper and removing the battery.

Make note that the MOBO-led receive power (is green) and all the pc and psu-fans works well.

What can you suggest me?

- Here's the system specs:

Mobo: ASUS P5kc
RAM: 2x KINGSTON KVR800D2N5/2G
GPU: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 4870
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
PSU: Corsair VS550 ATX (550w)
OS: Windows 10 64bit

Solution
At least i found a "solution": all PC components were ok but the OS was so badly corrupted that even the System Restore from a CD was useless, so i had to reinstall Windows from an USB pen and all worked well.

My luck was to have the possibility to access the BIOS with pressing delete immediatley after powering the PC, now i don't even need that: i just push the power button and the machine works without problems.

i've got a look at your link and i've listened: beeps only when removing RAM:

- One continuous beep followed by two short beeps then a pause (repeated) --> No memory detected

Meanwhile a tried to remove the battery from the MOBO for a night because it worked for someone, but not for me.

Ensure that the memory modules are correctly and fully inserted.

Try other know working memory modules in other available configurations. Check the motherboard's manual for RAM options and configurations.

You can use slower RAM for testing. The idea being to discover if the problem is with the RAM modules or the motherboard.

i tried some configurations but only this worked:

1 - removing RAM then powering the PC, hearing the 3 beeps and shutting down the machine.
2 - Putting the RAM modules in their sockets, powering the machine and pressing "delete" on keyboard to start the BIOS
3 - incredibly, the display finally show me the first screen of bios (the one where the PC ask you to press "DELETE" to enter the BIOS or to press "TAB" to display POST BIOS Message.
4 - the screen was frozen, it didn't show me nothing else than that described in point 3
5 - i was thinking that maybe the problem was the keyboard, so i used another one: same thing.

Doing so, i noticed a strange thing: every time i power the PC no energy goes to the keyboard, led always black; i tried to connect 2 different keyboards to everyone of my 8 USB connection: nothing.

1rst EDIT

i powered the PC pressing DELETE and it beeped ONE TIME, showing me teh first screen of the BIOS, but it frozed. I rebooted holding DEL and the PC has gone into the BIOS normally and charging the System (Windows 10), but 1-2 minutes it rebooted itself showing me a message of a problem that should be solved; after the reboot i had the same, first probem: black screen and no beep.

i don't think the problem it's the PSU, i buyed it just yesterday, completely new :)

by the way, i have a new info: now i can (not always) have access to the BIOS: everytime i start the PC with the power button, i immediately press DELETE, i hear the "beep" and i can have access to the BIOS

1rst edit

i'm testing the PC with Virtual PC-Chek Hardware Diagnostics and all the MOBO test have passed.
