So my broadband provider just bumped my bandwidth from 40 Mbps to 80 Mbps and even though I can see the difference if I connect the cable directly to my PC but over WiFi, the download speed isn't crossing 40-42 mbps

I contacted my ISP and they said that it's normal over WiFi

I am using TP Link TL-WR740N router. Is there a way I could get the full or an increased bandwidth over WiFi as well? Maybe with a different router?

Kindly advise

Thanks

You won't get same bandwidth over WiFi as you do over wired LAN - - especially if you're using the 2.4GHz band (which you must be since the TP Link TL-WR740N isn't dual-band, neither is the Tenda TE-W311MI.

If you get kitted out with a dual-band router and dual-band WiFi adapter you should get higher bandwidth than what you're getting now.

The bottom line is you're not helping the situation by using old-spec WiFi equipment which is limited to the 2.4Ghz band.

Thanks Philip. Guess it's time for an upgrade.

Could you please suggest me a good dual band router and an wireless adapter for home use. I have at most 3 devices connected simultaneously and most of the time, it's just 2
