Hey,

I decided its time to upgrade from my old build with a i5 2400k since I noticed heavy frame drops especially in csgo. i just recently had to upgrade my graphics card to a gtx 1050ti.

I know that the i5 8600k is supposed to be faster in games in general, but is 40$ more worth the few more frames? Also i need to upgrade my motherboard, and afaik u can only use z370 motherboards for the i5 8600k, which makes the CPU even more expensive

Especially why running an anti cheat service (EAC, esea client and faceits anti cheat) i experience even less frames in game. Does this count as multitasking performance? Supposedly the AMD ryzen 5 2600 should have better performance then, right?

which CPU would you choose? also can u recommend a matching motherboard?

thank you

The 2600 multicore performance is better, in comparison to the i5 which would be better for gaming.
However, with your current config, the 1050Ti would be bottlenecking both of these cpus so, it wouldn't make a big difference.
I would recommend the i5 8600k with this mobo: https://www.amazon.com/Z370P-D3-protection-Anti-Sulfur-Motherboard/dp/B077Y5JBQ5/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1527279156&sr=1-1&keywords=motherboard&refinements=p_n_feature_six_browse-bin%3A2057506011%2Cp_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A10656895011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2057458011
However, the 2600 still remains a good choice. It depends on your budget.

I play csgo every day, I used to have i5-2500K, running 5Ghz, with GTX 1060 6Gb, I never had any issues at all in CSGO - around 300 FPS (which is a limit).
My advice to you as a CSGo player and the IT guy who's been dealing with the PC's for the last 20 years:
1) Get a decent graphics card - for example 1070 or at least 1060 6Gb.
2) Upgrade your CPU to 2600 - trust me it might sound like not much, but 2600 really makes a big difference in games compared to the i5, even in my case the i5 running at 5Ghz, this is because of the extra 2mb of cache and the HT, making it 8 core overall.

Oh and even if you decide to spend a lot of money, by all means buy an AMD, as it will be cheaper and you will NOT notice any difference in performance. But what I would do first is definitely replace the graphics card, as yours is just not good enough for proper gaming.
