Usb3 on new motherboard

So I recently switched a motherboard to a B350m gaming pro, and I noticed that the usb3 cannot connect to my motherboard (the cable and the motherboard don't have the same connectors). I assume it's a case cable.
It is connected from one side i think, and my question is, should I just keep it loose? Or do I need to remove the cable completely (and how do i do it)?
Thanks for your help.

board only has a usb 3.1 header.

Massive annoyance as barely any cases actually have 3.1 ports or cables.

Also its gen 1 so acually has no benefit over usb 3 whatsoever - just a naming & connector change.

Just strap the case cable up out of the way somewhere - I thought someone would have made converters by now but I cant actually find any anywhere.

I have a usb2 plugged in already, but looking at the case manual, I can clearly see that the usb3 cable in the manual is not the same cable in my case. I suppose I don't need it, but will leaving it loose cause any harm to my hardware?
