So, theres this public wifi near my house and its really fast and cheap compared to what ISPs have to offer but it doesn't work in my room, i was wondering if its possible to somehow get the signal to my room. I have a CPE laying around (which was some sort of WiMax service i had but i had to get rid of it since they were charging $15 for 512kbps), can i use the CPE to somehow connect to the public wifi? I can place it on my roof.

If it works directly on your laptop they are using standard WiFi. WiMax is a very dead in the EU and USA but I have heard it is still used in africa and in china...mostly because you don't have to pay the big fees that come with LTE. WiMax is more of a mobile phone data technology rather than a public hotspot.

They sell all kinds of outdoor wifi bridge equipment at companies like ubiquiti or engenius but you are correct it will be about $50.
I can't speak to your own CPE since I know little about it, but they certainly do make long range wifi clients that you can mount on the side or roof of your house. Check out the offerings from Ubiquiti, for example. It will require pretty much LOS (line of sight) to be effective over long range. And these devices are not that expensive either. Esp. when you consider the savings from using public wifi.

Btw, have you checked the available bandwidth from this public wifi? Seems likely they would limit bandwidth, perhaps even time of usage, or implement a captive portal, all things that *may* make it less than an ideal for everyday, allday usage.

The public WiFi isn't free but its damn cheap, I already use it on my tablet,; it works on the other side of my house so i keep my tablet there to download but i can't move my PC there, they have a $3 unlimited plan which works on only one device but its 10mbps for 30 days so its a far cry from what i currently have.
ATM I don't have enough to get a good CPE(they go for like $50) so i'm hoping I can make use of what i have. The one i have is called PointMAX 2500.
